Comparison
Quathos Sign vs DocuSign
DocuSign built this category and runs the largest signing network in the world. We are not going to pretend otherwise. What follows is where the two products actually differ in structure — and an honest section on when you should pick them instead of us.
Structural differences
| Quathos Sign | DocuSign | |
|---|---|---|
| Tenant isolation | Enforced by the database (PostgreSQL Row Level Security). The application role cannot bypass it. | Enforced in the application layer, as is standard for the category. |
| Public verification | Anyone with the document or its code verifies integrity at /verify — no account, no login, no trust in us required. | Verification through the platform, generally tied to the envelope and the account that owns it. |
| Evidence seal | Hybrid post-quantum signature over the dossier: ML-DSA (NIST FIPS 204) plus Ed25519, via an audited module. | Classical cryptography with a comprehensive certificate of completion. |
| Pricing | Published on the site. Self-serve signup, no card for the trial, no sales call required to learn the price. | Published entry plans; business and enterprise tiers go through sales. |
| API access | Self-serve. Create an account, issue a scoped token separated between test and live, and call the API the same hour. | Developer account with a sandbox; production access involves a review step. |
| Audit trail | Append-only and hash-chained, with UPDATE and DELETE blocked by database triggers, including for administrators. | Certificate of completion and detailed history per envelope. |
| Data residency | European Union (Germany). No US region available. | Multiple regions, including the United States. |
| External certifications | None yet. We publish that fact on our Trust Center instead of implying otherwise. | SOC 2, ISO 27001 and a broad certification portfolio. |
We deliberately leave prices out of this table. Contract pricing changes without notice and varies by region and negotiation; publishing a number about another company that turns out to be wrong would discredit everything else on this page. Compare the mechanisms, then compare your own quotes.
When DocuSign is the right choice
Genuinely — if any of these describe you, they will serve you better, and we would rather say so now:
- You need external certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001) on file today. We do not have them.
- You require data residency in the United States. Our infrastructure has no US region.
- You need remote online notarization, or signing workflows regulated in a country we do not support.
- Your team depends on a specific prebuilt integration in their ecosystem, and rebuilding it is not worth the switch.
When Quathos Sign is the right choice
- You are embedding signing into your own product, and you would rather not build on a platform that also sells to your customers.
- Your auditor or counterparty asks how you prove a document has not changed — and you want an answer with a mechanism attached, not a logo.
- You want isolation you can point at in the database, not a filter in application code you have to trust.
- You want the price on the page and an API key the same day, without a discovery call.
- You operate in Brazil and need ICP-Brasil qualified signatures alongside international ones.
